Williamsburg Presbyterian Church to hold reception for the Rev. Patricia Karns

A reception will be held Sunday, May 6 for the Rev. Patricia Karns at the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church.

The reception, hosted by Christian Nurture, will take place between the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. It will be held at the church's Stevenson Hall, 215 Richmond Road, Williamsburg. The reception is meant to honor and bid farewell to Karns, who will soon be leaving Williamsburg.

According to the church, Karns was ordained as a minister of Word and Sacrament in March 1975 and came to The Presbytery of Eastern Virginia, where she was installed as its first female Executive Presbyter in March 1990. She visited all of her 65 churches several times during her tenure and served in many capacities at the General Assembly.

In 1999, she retired from PEVA and moved to Williamsburg, where she has been involved at the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. In addition, Karns has also been an instructor for the Christopher Wren Association, teaching many classes.
