Williamsburg Choral Guild Summer Sings to perform Benjamin Britten works on June 27

The Williamsburg Choral Guild Summer Sings program will perform Benjamin Britten's "Rejoice in the Lamb" and "Hymn to St. Cecilia" at 7 p.m. June 27 at Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists.

The Williamsburg Choral Guild is conducted by Rebecca Tyree, interim director of choral activities and assistant professor of choral music education at Virginia Commonwealth University. Britten's works set two poems to music. " Rejoice in the Lamb," by Christopher Smart, praises God and all things created by God. "Hymn to St. Cecilia,"  by W. H. Auden, honors the patron saint of music on whose day Britten was born.

Summer Sings is a program sponsored by the Williamsburg Choral Guild. It features three different sing-alongs of choral masterpieces, each with a guest conductor, soloists and piano accompaniment.

Tickets cost $10 per person.

Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists is located at 3051 Ironbound Road, between Route 5 and Jamestown Road, in Williamsburg.

The guild welcomes singers of all abilities and encourages people who just want to listen to sit in. Sight-reading familiarity is a plus.
