Local Girl Scouts recently attended Art Adventures at Camp Skimino.

The weeklong camp outside of Williamsburg gave scouts the chance to paint, sculpt, draw and create art around the camp's facilities. Scouts also made pillows and bed pockets for use at the camp and to take home. In addition to arts and crafts, campers spent time swimming, hiking and doing other camp activities.

Camp Skimino is located near Williamsburg. It spans 98 acres and can accommodate 360 campers.

This event was part of the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast's camp sessions. More sessions will be held throughout August.

The Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast serves more than 16,500 girls in kindergarten through 12th grade and has more than 6,000 adult volunteers. It is located at 912 Cedar Road, in Chesapeake.
