James City County man charged with manufacture, possession of explosive device on Merrimac Trial

The Williamsburg Police and Fire Departments are investigating a recent incident involving the manufacture and possession of an explosive device reported in the 400 block of Merrimac Trial on March 5.

According to a news release from the police, "Police responded to the 400 block of Merrimac Trial along with Williamsburg Fire Department for a reported explosion with smoke. When fire and police arrived, they discovered an exploded chemical/bottle bomb outside of the building. After investigation, 26 year-old Casey Shanholtz, of James City County, was arrested and charged."
